Google is planning a cheaper Pixel Phone this year
India, being the world’s second largest market for smartphones, appears to be a flawless choice for the launch.

However, the cheaper Google Pixel 3 mid-range phone will only be released in India, thus, it might be less probable to see it on the United States market or any top market in the world.
Do you fancy Pixel phones but couldn’t get your hands on one due to budget constraints? The Google smart speaker range is likely to see more fans given the larger user base Android already has and the support for Google Assistant is built-in in a majority of devices. Google may also launch a premium laptop Pixelbook along with intelligent home automation products such as doorbell, camera, alarm system and a smoke detector, sold under the Nest brand along with its Wi-fi system – Google WiFi.
Are you seeing the April patch OTA on your Pixel 2 handsets?
This wouldn’t be Google’s first foray into phones for the Indian market, following earlier efforts like Android One (and more recently, Android Go).
The smart speaker market is still in its early stages in India. This would also bolster Google’s consumer products distribution, which is one of the company’s weakest points in hardware, as pointed out by Ars Technica.
Google Home for India also features interesting new updates like the ability to pair it with Bluetooth speakers and support for major local music streaming services.
Google’s entry into the smart speaker market in India comes at a time when the trend is slowly starting to take root. The story cites “four senior industry executives” that were present at the talks. However, if this new model arrives in the market, it gives Google the potential to capture another sector of the market looking for a more affordable smartphone.

Google reportedly doesn’t want to become “overly-aggressive” with respect to pricing, so don’t expect to see bargain basement pricing. The list of devices that are compatible for the new update includes the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel 2, Pixel 2 XL, Nexus 5X, and Nexus 6P smartphones as well as the Pixel C tablet.
