Google Might Drop Nexus Brand Name in its Upcoming Android Models

In fact, the gradual move towards comparatively expensive devices had the company reportedly mull over the Android Silver brand.

That said, it’s possible that the phones will basically be Nexus in all but name. As for the actual device, I think Google will refer to its phone as the “Google Phone”(Possibly the gPhone to ruffle Apple’s feathers). And it has left it at that, leaving it to iPhone switchers to find it on their own.

Google has dubbed its forthcoming offerings as “Marlin” and “Sailfish”, and they will be produced by HTC.

Which unfortunately does mean that, for users of Samsung’s premium phones, Nougat won’t be as big an upgrade as it otherwise might be. However, it is unclear whether Google will also do away with the HTC brand name on the smartphones.

Will you be one of the first T-Mobile users to get the update for Android Nougat? We’re guessing the HTC phones we’ve been featuring will be the first pair under the new brand. But, Google has already rolled out the Nougat to Nexus devices, and there is no news about the flagship Nexus device. Nexus Marlin will have a similar design, but a larger display.

Nexus, as a brand, was wavering from its path right back in 2014. Either it’s not working, or there’s some trick to using it that we couldn’t master.

Apparently, the rumor started when an application developer shared interesting data suggesting that there are now 100 Android users running on Android 7.1 Nougat. The feature will work on any Nougat-loaded phone, but you may want a large screen so you can clearly read what’s going on in both apps.

As far as consumers are concerned, for them the changes, although significant, would not be as far-reaching as they would be for other Android phone makers.

It’s arguably an even better way to multitask than the split-screen mode. Switching between apps are now made easier by double tapping the multitask button.

Both the variants are expected to have glass and metal finish and will be much sleeker as compared to the previous Nexus devices. There’s not a lot of difference between them, though Google’s version is probably a little more elegant. Now when you get a message, you can reply to it directly from the notification itself.
