Google now includes The tweets in desktop search results
In another example cited by Google, if you search for Malcolm X, and today is Malcolm X s birthday, you would find popular-on-twitter results with a link to more tweets for Malcolm X. The search doesn’t need to include the term “twitter” or twitter hashtags – if there are tweets that Google thinks are relevant, it will surface them anyway.

Confirmation came in a tweeted exchange between the two US tech firms.
The deal is merely an extension of the partnership that began in May this year when Google started including tweets in mobile search results. It calls this community logged out users, because they are people who haven’t created accounts with it. Part of the idea of partnering with Google to index tweets was to support monetization of the unregistered users. On Friday, Google updated its announcement from May to indicate that the capability is now available for desktop users. The deal with Google, however, could be instrumental in Twitter’s future. Twitter is growing, but at a much slower pace compared to previous years and compared to competitors.

Many are surprised the deal didn’t happen sooner since it has been working on mobile devices quite well for awhile now. Recent controversy over poor advertising results, user growth and retention has slowed Twitter’s growth. The function allows Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) to be dynamic on its search operations while Twitter gets more eyes on tweets. In an update on Friday, August 21, Arac declared that the two companies have extended their deal to desktop.
