Google officially announces Android apps for Chromebooks
Now that Google is officially bringing the Play Store on ChromeOS, this will surely get the attention of developers to start working on better Chromebook apps that fully work offline.

This means that Chromebook users will be able to download, install and use Android apps on their ChromeOS computers.
Chrome OS users will also receive Android notifications on their Chromebooks.
Alongside the Chrome announcement, Google’s I/O developer conference featured announcements such as the latest update to the operating system with Android N, updates for Android Wear and a new messaging app called Allo.
The Unity game development environment, a rival to Unreal that’s been popular with VR game developers, will also support Daydream this summer, and developers will have the option to write apps natively with the C++ programming language. After making some deep research into the source, the user was able to discover examples correlated to the influx of the Play Store on Chrome OS. In a lot of ways this project sounds more like the logical extension of YouTube’s existing Cardboard enhancements, but fully embracing Daydream with a new app like this could be the ideal way to make sure that focus stays just as sharp going forward.
Chromebook Android apps: Are new Chromebooks on the way? “The goal is an “It just works” solution, with zero effort from developers required to get their Android app up and running”. Of course, you are not limited to Google Play, but you can also install the Good e-Reader App Store. It is worth mentioning that total Chromebook shipment numbers come from combined shipments from all the Chrome OS OEMs like Dell, HP and Lenovo.

Google today confirmed that it is adding Android apps to Chrome OS, it’s lightweight desktop OS for laptops and other PC form factors. To be fair, it has even excluded its own original Chromebook Pixel 2013 model, which includes a touch screen display (useful for Android), from the support list. But it will be “a few months” before we find out more.
