Google Partners With Udacity & Tata Trusts To Bring Nanodegree Into India
Here’s what Udacity has to say about this nanodegree:- “The Udacity Android Nanodegree program comprises of courses developed and taught by expert Google instructors from the Google Developer Relations team and will include project reviews, mentorship and career services from Udacity”.

The programme is being introduced in India through Google’s partnership with Udacity, a US-based for-profit educational organisation which offers massive open online courses (MOOC). “Through this initiative Tata Trusts helps build the digital ecosystem to empower communities”, said Ganesh Neelam, Development Manager, Tata Trusts.
India now has the second highest concentration of developers in the world and, as Anandan explains, has the potential to reach 4 million developers by 2018 – the most in the world.
“While India has millions of software developers, we still lag in creating world-class apps”, said Rajan Anadan, vice president and managing director, Google South East Asia and India.
The need to build mobile application developers on a large scale stems from their acute shortage worldwide, especially in developing countries like India where 65 percent of users access internet on mobile as against 15 percent in China and 12-13 percent in the US.
“Today only 2% of the apps built in India feature in the top 1000 apps globally and our goal is to raise this to 10% in the next three years”, said Anandan.
Google has also partnered philanthropic organisation Tata Trusts for the programme. In India, however, they are only recognized by Google.

Perhaps the biggest incentive to Indian devs to enroll and get started is the news that graduates of the Nanodegree program will also be invited to a job fair in early 2016 hosted by Google where they can meet Google and other prospective local employers. Over the past year , we have seen enrollments in India more than double across our free courses and increase 5x for our Nanodegree program. Scholarships for the Android Nanodegree are available immediately.
