Google Play Movies & TV now supports Apple TV, cellular streaming

Besides this and a new design, another notable addition to Google Play Movies & TV for iOS is mobile streaming.

This lets you watch the movies and TV shows from your Google Play account on your HDTV using Apple TV instead of Google’s very own Chromecast, with which the Google Play Movies & TV app has been integrated since its launch in January 2014.

On Friday, Google Play Movies & TV updated to support Apple’s AirPlay. Under Movies & TV you can find eight movies that, if you buy one, comes with a free copy you can gift to another person in the US.

To use AirPlay with Google Play Movies & TV, though, you’ll need at least a third-generation Apple TV with the device needing to be updated to at least 7.0 system software, as described on iTunes’ page for the app.

You can also stream content in HD, and Google has implemented a new “Recommended by Play” feature that suggests content based on your viewing history.

Another major improvement in this release is the ability to stream content over 3G and 4G connections. You can download it from the App Store now by following the source link below.

Most important for iPhone owners, the app has added native support for AirPlay, letting you start a film or TV show, tap the AirPlay icon, and switch to viewing on your Apple TV and a much bigger screen.

It also enables you to search the Google Play catalog for certain titles and add movies and TV shows to your wishlist.
