Google publishes Android 7.0 Nougat factory images

Though it has just rolled out to select smart phones, the Android Nougat will already get its first maintenance update quite soon.

“With all of these new devices beginning to run Nougat, now is the time to publish your app updates to Google Play”, wrote David Burke, vice president of engineering for Android, in a blog post. With the new update, this feature will be activated when the screen is turned off.

Google is making Android 7.0 available starting Monday, but the rollout for the new operating system is expected to take several weeks. Additionally, Google has confirmed that LG’s V20 smartphone will be the first to be loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.

Android 7.0 Nougat has arrived.

Also, users can now reply a message directly from the notification menu instead of having to launch the app. Those include Multi-Window Mode on phones and tablets, the ability to rearrange Quick Settings tiles, and bundled notifications to save space in your notification tray when one app is sending you a bunch of alerts.

Hopefully, other smartphone makers will follow soon and we will see the new Android 7.0 OS on plenty of other devices soon.

After the processes, you would receive an OTA update, which you can download to enjoy the taste of the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS.

Another neat thing about Nougat is that it will be receiving quarterly maintenance updates and developer previews will also be released, the next one to come with fall. Based on this, you can expect a similar wait this year.

The new OS also has Google’s new Daydream virtual reality platform, although it will be supported only by Daydream-ready handsets running the OS. And when you upgrade your device and reboot it, a new upgraded image will appear! Also, the official OTA is not available on older Nexus devices.
