Google rolls out Android 7.0 Nougat for Nexus devices
The latest version of the Android mobile operating system, the Android Nougat, was released on Monday, Aug. 22. And for current Nexus users, software updates will now install much faster, so users won’t have to wait for minutes while their device reboots.

Google said it also worked to make the Android OS more secure with new features in Nougat, including background software updates, file-based encryption and Direct Boot to allow apps to run securely before a device is unlocked. It is strongly recommended that the users should back up their Android device before attempting for an update.
HTC users are also likely in for a long wait, but at least there is a more concrete time frame here.
Commenting about the development, Vice President of Product Management, Android & Google Play – Sameer Samat said, “Android 7.0 Nougat is by far the sweetest release yet”. Older Nexus hardware, such as the Nexus 5 and aging Nexus 7, won’t do. As a result, we don’t expect to see Nougat on Sony phones until around February 2017. Additionally, Google has confirmed that LG’s V20 smartphone will be the first to be loaded with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. Following this, we expect the company to bring the update to other handsets relatively quickly, as it did with Marshmallow previous year, which began rolling out in October and reached Europe by November.
If you’re already on the Android N developer preview, then you’re going to find that update waiting for you – and we already told you how to get it. Google has taken a different approach to build and launch Nougat, which was announced earlier this year. The latest iteration of Android features extra battery-saving modes, supports multi-window multitasking, adds 72 new emoji to the OS’s expanded emoji lineup, and has built-in support for the upcoming VR platform called Daydream and the advanced 3D rendering API VulkanTM.

Android 7.0 Nougat brings with it several exciting features such as an improved Doze Mode, Data Saver feature, Split Screen, a quick reply system for apps and even a virtual game where you can catch cats.
