Everyday, thousands of app get to the Google Playstore platform.

It’s interesting that Dating apps are popular enough to get their own category now, while new moms and dads will be glad to see a Parenting category. The new categories should help to increase discoverability in the Play Store, which is good news for all Android app developers.

Google’s Family Library feature is “rolling out over the next few days”, and will be available in: Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. To refine things further, Google has also renamed the “Transportation” and “Media & Video” categories to “Maps & Navigation” and “Video Players & Editors” respectively.

These new and tweaked app categories should help when you’re hunting for a new app but you’re not searching for one app in particular. With the use of Google Play Store “bsdiff” algorithm, the Google Play Store update sizes were reduced to 12.9MB and 3.6MB, respectively, Android Police reported. Earlier on Tuesday this week, Google has rolled out new delta algorithm “bsdiff” which will reduce the app update size as well as patches size by up to 50 per cent. It will allow users to add large files up to 2GB with apps. Google, which initially only displayed the APK file size; will now show the actual file size in the Play Store and data used. Currently, only the deltas (changes to the apps) are downloaded to add new features and fixes to the apps.

Two years after Apple launched its Family Sharing feature for iTunes apps and content, Google is finally doing the same thing with a feature it’s calling Google Play Family Library. If developers choose a newly added category for an app before that category makes to the Play Store and is available to users, the current app could end up in one of the existing categories.
