Google’s LG and Huawei Nexus Smartphones Now Have Names
Even if Google hasn’t confirmed it so far, it’s pretty clear by now that there will be two Nexus models launched by the search giant this year. LG is expected to manufacture the second phone, which will have a 5.2-inch display and is expected to be called the Google Nexus 5. If you may remember, the Huawei Nexus was once called as the “Bullhead” while the LG Nexus as the “Angler” when we first heard of the Nexus pair being in the works. According to sources, the smartphones now have names, the LG Nexus 5X and the Huawei Nexus 6P, and will be officially unveiled by Google on September 29 in its event in San Francisco.

The news comes in the midst of a swathe of leaks and rumours surrounding the Huawei-made handset, with others being that the 6P will have a Quad HD display over it’s expanded 5.7inch screen size, along with a 21MP camera. Under the hood it will have a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor and will be available in 32GB for US$349 (about AU) and 64GB for US$399 (about AU). In terms of features, there won’t be many apart from Android Pay, support for fingerprint scanners, new app permissions model and support for USB Type-C standard. If that seems a bit pricey, the smartphone will also be available in 32GB or 64GB. Memory can usually be expanded via a microSD card slot except for the latest Samsung flagships.
On the other hand, for the first time since introducing the Nexus program, Google will launch two differently sized Nexus devices, supposed to fit all pockets – pun intended.
Both devices will be unveiled by Google later this month so people won’t have to wait long to know if the speculated new features are true or not.
Google will reportedly be announcing the Nexus 6P, and smaller model 5X, on September 29th, so stay tuned.
