Google’s new Cardboard app turns your panoramic photos into 3D experiences
Virtual reality is finally here to stay, and Google Cardboard is one of the most prominent platforms bringing the technology to the masses. There are many apps that support Cardboard, such as Street View and YouTube.

Using Cardboard Camera is super easy.
Google today released Cardboard Camera, a Google Cardboard-compatible app that let’s take 3D panoramic photos with your smartphone and then view them in a VR smartphone adapter.
VR photos are basically 3D panoramas that have slightly different views for each eye, this makes near things look near and far things far, and users can look around to explore the image in all directions. Users can record sound as they’re taking a photo as well.
After a short processing of the photo, the result will be a neatly stitched stereoscopic panorama that actually fills out to be an entire photosphere. Sadly, there’s no way to share these photos, but that’s not a major issue right now as not everyone owns a Cardboard viewer.

Google’s latest app to hit Google Play, Cardboard Camera, allows you to experience photos you take in a completely new way. The app weighs 33 MB and there’s no need to register or sign-in into an account to start taking pictures, plus it’s now available in 17 languages.
