YouTube Music, a new service that will take on the likes of Spotify and Apple, goes live next week.

YouTube has officially entered the streaming marketplace with its own platform.

YouTube didn’t set a date for when YouTube Premium would launch.

It’s also been revealed that YouTube Red, the ad-free paid alternative to YouTube that featured exclusive video content, is being rebranded as YouTube Premium.

YouTube Red customers are moved to YouTube Premium automatically once YouTube Premium becomes available.

YouTube is a place where artists and fans connect, creating and discovering a world of music.

There’s already a YouTube Music service, but Google is introducing a new version of it.

Elias Roman, a product manager for YouTube Music, said: “It’s all here…” So you still get background playback, the ability to store videos for offline viewing and an ad-free viewing experience as well. It is a mobile app and desktop player that gives you access to millions of songs. They plan to expand quickly after that to countries like Canada, Germany, France, Russia, Spain, and Sweden. YouTube Premium isn’t YouTube Music Premium, although YouTube Music Premium is included.

It will have a free account option which will contain ads, while a premium account is available as well which will cost $9.99 (£7.4) per month. The price for this service is $11.99 per month, and it includes YouTube Premium Music. Google Play Music is not going anywhere soon. That means Google will still do some data collection in the background to get you those smart music recommendations.

The initial rollout will only occur in 5 territories: US, Mexico, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand. For the existing YouTube Red members, the current subscription price will continue for YouTube Premium.
