BMW is apparently not too thrilled about Google deciding to go with the name Alphabet, and they have some concerns according to several news outlets.

Google has always been a search engine and advertising business at its core but over the years it’s grown into a company with diverse interests ranging from self-driving cars to home automation systems.

After completion of the Alphabet merger, Page will become Alphabet’s CEO, and Sergey Brin, who cofounded Google with Page, will become president of Alphabet. Sundar Pichai, Google’s former product chief, has been appointed as CEO of Google. “And it is clear to us and our board that it is time for Sundar to be CEO of Google”, Page wrote on the official Google blog. The largest of which is Google. The company Alphabet is “a collection of companies”, with Google being one of them. Each Alphabet subsidiary’s financials, except for Google, remains undisclosed, keeping everyone guessing on its revenue line.

The aim of the operating overhaul is to allow Google to focus on developing its own products, while enabling other Alphabet subsidiaries with the independence to further their own brands.

2014: Google completes a controversial stock split that creates a new class of non-voting shares, cementing Page and Brin’s control as major voting stockholders.

Also, the group intends to grow its investment arms, Ventures and Capital, as part of this new structure.

Page said: “Sergey and I are seriously in the business of starting new things”.

He added: “This new structure will allow us to keep tremendous focus on the extraordinary opportunities we have inside of Google”.

Google is thus aiming for various new businesses, and creating a transparent account.

When asked why the name Alphabet was chosen, Page said that the name was “inspired by the collection of letters that represent language, one of humanity’s most important innovation”.

In his post, Page explained that restructuring the company would provide better management scale by running unrelated projects independently.
