Google Slides Now Lets You Share Presentations Over Hangouts Video Call

For streaming presentations via Hangouts, the updated Google Slides app for Android enables users to choose from the meetings which have been scheduled on their calendar.

To do that, head over to your Slides app, select the slides you want to present and select the “present” button.

The Google for Work team has added a new feature to Google Slides.

Meanwhile, Google Keep also received its own update that lets users export their Keep notes to Google Docs. Both the Google Keep update and Google Slides update are rolling out today on Play Store.

“Google Slides helps you share your big ideas with the world, but sometimes presenting these ideas can be challenging”, Google Slides Software Engineer Fenil Shah wrote in a blog post.

Here’s a quick look at how the updated Google Slides works over Hangouts.

About the new functionality introduced in the updated Google Slides app for Android, Google said that the functionality means that the app users’ teammates, partners, and clients “can see your ideas, even if they’re on the other side of the planet”. You will get an option to present it via Google Hangouts, tap that and it is good to go.

As with the AirPlay and Chromecast features, this essentially turns your phone into a presentation remote control, allowing you to advance through slides, check your speaker notes, and even monitor your presentation pace with a built-in timer. The function is only available for Android device. But in future we may expect that it will be available for iOS users also.

There’s no word from Google if this feature is headed to iOS as well.
