Google to Host First Ever Google Play Awards At Google I/0 2016

According to the report, Google engineers have been working on the plan for the last two years and the new single OS will be launched in 2017, although an early build could be revealed by 2016. C’mon, Google, there has to be a better choice.

It wouldn’t be the first time that Google dabbled with Android apps on its cloud-focused platform either. These awards will be given out to developers in several different categories, such as Standout Startup, Best Families App, and Best Use of Google Play Game Services.

The details are complex, in that it’s not merely Google’s dominance that is at the core of the charges but also the way it deals with handset manufacturers to ensure that its services – search, browser, email and, above all, app store – get priority.

What’s interesting about Google’s round-up versus Apple’s list is that, instead of focusing on best apps and games per platform (e.g. mobile, tablet, watch, etc.) along with the “most innovative”, Google features apps across a wider variety of categories. But what can you do if you want to check out the newest Android apps from Microsoft as soon as possible?

According to the Android developer team, Google Play reached over a billion users the past year all over the world. Even though they already get recognition from users, it’s nice to get the recognition from Google, especially in the “Best Use of Material Design section”. Of course you can see the complete list of nominees on Google’s blog post which is in the source link below.

While Apple’s annual awards are declared at year-end simply before the vacations, so as to present a bunch that created waves throughout the 2015, Google’s award winners are declared at the company’s conference in May.
