When the Nexus 6P arrived, it was a big deal for a couple of reasons.

Additional details regarding Google’s new Pixel phones keep pouring out, and this time around, the specs of the Pixel XL, also known by its codename Google Marlin, were revealed courtesy of a Geekbench appearance.

Google’s next pair of smartphone offerings will reportedly come by the name Pixel and Pixel XL instead of Nexus. Blass doesn’t name-drop the device as being anything other than a Huawei-made Google tablet, so there’s no mention of Nexus or Pixel brands, but we’re betting at this point it’ll be branded as Pixel rather than Nexus.

Whatever it’s called, the device would enter a tablet market that’s in steady decline, and an Android tablet market that hasn’t seen much excitement over the past few years.

As previously reported, the Nexus 2016 smartphones have the codenames Sailfish and Marlin.

Said phones will have a new brand name and will be giving users a new Android experience.

Design and specsAndroid Police has published a leaked image of the upcoming phones. Rumours suggest these could hide anything from laser focus, to mics or even a second sensor. It is also rumored to have a rear-facing fingerprint scanner. The processor will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 that has a capacity of 4 GB for RAM and 32 GB for internal memory.

The smaller Pixel phone will be fueled by a 2770mAh battery, while a beefier 3450mAh battery shall juice up the larger Pixel XL. This will bring a host of new features, including a new split-screen mode, tougher security measures like file-based encryption, support for the Vulkan API, enhanced notifications, and Data Saver and Night modes.
