Google to Work on New, Smarter Messaging Service

Just recently, we spoke about the Facebook- owned messaging service called WhatsApp, and how it plans on releasing its video calling feature very soon, which no doubt has Google extremely anxious, which is why the Wall Street Journal has stated that the tech giant is going to be coming up with a solution.

And that was the most important thing, and there wasn’t anything else that – it wasn’t a bowl game to go have a good time. The Tide defense has dominated all year and made a statement by holding the Spartans scoreless through the game.

Not to be outdone by Facebook’s AI-assisted M for Messenger, Google is cooking up a new mobile messaging app to hook up people and question-answering chatbots.

Sounds like Google is creating a new messaging app, but one with an additional element that it hopes will win it plenty of fans.

Facebook in particular has been working hard this year to evolve Messenger after it broke it out as a separate app from Facebook. These apps included YouTube in the second spot; Google Search in the fourth place; and Google Play, Google Maps and Gmail in the fifth, sixth and seventh spots repectively. Google likely will allow outside developers to build chat bots to run on the service, the WSJ report said.

Google is lagging behind its competitors when it comes to messaging services. It is also rumored that Google even tried to acquire 200 Labs – the startup behind the chatbots on Telegram- for this project but the company rejected the offer. Users will be able to text friends or a chatbot, which will scour the Web and other sources for information to answer a question, those people said. Meanwhile, the Google Messenger app hasn’t been getting any relevant update since stickers and location sharing where enabled.

Nick Fox, vice president of “Google communications” is the head of the new messaging app of Google. The leading search engine aims to overcome the competition it is facing from its rivals including Facebook by using this chatbot technology.

Google’s interest in the space is to be expected at a time where messaging apps from other companies continue to evolve into a one-stop shop for a multitude of services, all of which threaten to take eyeballs, and hence traffic, away from Google itself.
