Although the productivity package is aimed primarily at students and teachers, with a view to increase performance and improve student collaboration, the work sector could also benefit from the advancements, argues Jonathan Rochelle, Google for Education director of project management. But now it appears that Google has managed to pull it off. However it turns out that voice dictation is just one of the major new features to come out of the new release of Google Docs announced on September 2. That said, it still seems faster to manually write longer pieces of content due to the limitations of the technology. This makes it much easier to scan a document to see what is new.

Google has also revamped with Docs, Slides, and the Sheets applications, offering new, stylish templates, particularly when contrasted to the previous offerings. To highlight the new feature, Google even uploaded a quick video to their YouTube channel. The Verge cites that there is no need for users to give practice sentences for the feature to work. To try it out, just head over to the Tools menu in Docs and activate Voice typing. In the demo we saw, it works almost as fast as Google’s excellent voice recognition features in search, and it’s fortunately smart enough to know that when you say “comma” or “new paragraph”, you’re giving it formatting commands. In preparation for students and teachers going back to schools, Google Apps has rolled out some new features that surprisingly have not been included in the suite until now. At least it is until you remember that learning how to type with your voice is like learning how to juggle lightbulbs.

Android users are also getting a new feature to make multitasking easier.

Explore creates charts and insights automatically, so you can visualize trends and understand your data in seconds on the web or on your Android”.

Google is really serious about its cloud apps.

Another feature added in Sheets is the easy calculation method.
