Google Voice receiving major update

Previous year in Google I/O conference, the search giant introduced a new concept that the Android team had in the works: Instant Apps. The main feature of the Android Instant Apps is that the user does not need to download it in order to use it. In this sense, users using Google Voice through Hangouts will not need to switch to new applications, but if they do, they would benefit from the continuous improvements that Google promises to offer.

Back during Google I/O 2016, Google announced new technology called “Android Instant Apps”. The three tabs include messages, calls, and Voicemail. The updated Google Voice app features what the company describes as a cleaner and more intuitive design for users.

Given Google’s recent history with creating new messaging apps and changing existing ones, there was some concern among Google Voice users that Google wasn’t adequately supporting the apps. With the latest update, group conversations are now labeled clearly and should work perfectly. Messages does fall short when it comes to Google Voice’s original innovation, however-the ability to ring all of your phones from a single number. Only a select number of models were allowed the support. Today’s update is therefore worth celebrating for those who in spite of neglect by Google, refused to ditch the service [not that there are better alternatives out there anyway]. It returned with a few minor updates on Monday and promises of more to come. But, Google says it’s not going to let voice fall by the wayside again and that users can expect regular updates going forward. It’s flawless for things like online shopping, game demos, and social networks, and Google is expected to release the Instant Apps SDK soon so that developers can fully embrace it.
