Meanwhile, residents are now being vigilant, locking doors and looking out for one another.

Marcotte said he last saw his daughter Saturday night, when the two had dinner together at the 111 Chop House in Worcester.

The 27-year-old Marcotte worked as an account manager in NY for Google.

Town residents gathered at a church to remember her Tuesday.

“In honor of her being a beam of light and for the family”, Bennett said.

According to the Boston Globe, the information line was launched by state police and local Princeton law enforcement assisting in the homicide investigation being overseen by Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. Police have not yet announced a suspect.

The gruesome killing has sent shockwaves through the community and police are now telling people in the small town of Princeton, US, with a population of just 3,500, to be extra careful. The police don’t know if this was a random act or if Marcotte was targeted by someone.

This story has been corrected to show the woman killed in NY was named Karina, not Katrina.

BU professor Steve Quigley, who taught Marcotte in his new media class in 2010, said she knew then that she wanted to focus on search engine marketing in her career.

She promised the killer that they would “be reckoning with that force not only for the rest of your pathetic life, but for the rest of eternity as you f***ing burn in hell”.

Karina’s mother, Cathy, could barely contain her fury as she ripped into the killer Sunday in a profanity-laced news conference outside their home.

Marcotte was on a weekend visit to her family, when she headed out for a jog early Sunday afternoon and, tragically, never returned. “I’ve been at the police station since 4 a.m.”, he said. “She was up here Sunday”. The NYPD is investigating Vetrano’s murder in Queens, New York. The discovery of Marcotte’s body came hours after her family reported her missing when she did not come home from jogging.

MA law enforcement officials believe that Marcotte’s death likely took place between 1 and 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon and are asking anyone who might have seen anything suspicious during that time period to contact police.
