Google working on messenger app with added AI
Google is prepping a new mobile messaging app that’ll use its chatbot technology as the company tries to catch up with rivals such as Facebook in the instant messaging space, according to WSJ.

Google’s version is said to be a bit similar to that of the social network’s Facebook M. M is a virtual assistant service that is said to compete with Apple’s Siri that runs on Facebook Messenger.
But into Google’s search engine, users won’t be required to type a question. There’s no denying Google has the most popular operating system on the planet, though it has fallen quite short when it comes to its messaging apps forcing users to go for third party solutions. Earlier, with the rise of Facebook, the giant search engine had to shut down its Orkut and Gmail messenger. The Cortana and Siri competitor also use artificial technology to be able to perform tasks like booking a reservation from a restaurant or a hotel.
Nick Fox, vice president of “Google communications” is the head of the new messaging app of Google.
While Google has so far declined to comment on the plans, it is understood that the new service will combine chatbots and software which answers your questions inside a messaging app.
The project, brought to light by a Wall Street Journal report, sounds suspiciously like an amalgamation of Hangouts and Google Now.

It is unclear when the service will be launched, or what it will be named, the report said. However, both these services failed to catch up with the popularity of Facebook’s WhatsApp and even fail to match the popular messaging service in China which is WeChat.
