GOP CONVENTION | Hillary Clinton compares GOP convention to Wizard of Oz

It was one of the occasional flurries of dissent on the convention floor, including jeers as states that Trump did not win recorded their votes during the nominating roll call vote.

GOP divisions erupted on the convention floor Monday afternoon after party officials adopted rules by a shouted voice vote and denied the roll-call vote demanded in lusty shouts by delegates opposing Trump.

Presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has some words for her opponent, Donald Trump.

On Tuesday night, Christie reiterated his support for Trump, calling him a “strong leader” and a “caring, genuine and decent person”.

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton speaks at the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees 42nd International Convention at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas, Tuesday, July 19, 2016. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said Clinton has “a tortured relationship to the truth”. After the customary rearranging of the alphabetical order of states, it was the delegates from NY who put Trump over the edge, with Donald Trump Jr. announcing the state’s delegate totals.

Her speech contained a striking resemblance to Michelle Obama’s when she said her parents “impressed on me the values that you work hard for what you want in life, that your word is your bond and you do what you say and keep your promise, that you treat people with respect”.

Each time, delegates responded with boisterous chants of “guilty”.

Failed Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson went so far as to associate Clinton with Lucifer.

A senior Trump adviser, Paul Manafort, dismissed the criticism as “just absurd”, and insisted that she used “words that are common words”. “C’mon. We can make the case that she shouldn’t be elected without jumping the shark”, tweeted the Arizona senator, who is opposed to Trump’s candidacy.

And she says he has laid out a reckless approach to being president.

There was “lots of sound and fury, even a fog machine”, Clinton said. “Chip in now to make sure he never steps foot in the Oval Office”. “We are going to present the facts to you”.

The crowd gathered in the cavernous convention hall reflected the growing dissatisfaction among some Republicans with party elites.

“Guilty”, came back the frenzied answer from the crowd. In the months that followed, Christie became a key advisor and surrogate for Trump, who selected him to lead his transition team.
