GOP kicks off 2016 convention

The floor fight preceded the highly orchestrated televised debut of Trump’s general election campaign on Monday, including a speech by Melania Trump, wife of the candidate.

Wittman served in the U.S. House of Representatives with Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, Trump’s running mate, and said Pence is “a great complement to Donald Trump”. And I think it’s a.very, very serious situation and we just can’t let it happen, ‘ he said.

But Womack said he heard more ayes, to the continued dismay of the anti-Trump faction.

Kaufmann added that Iowa was not one of the six states to put forward a petition calling for the roll-call vote but was unable to say what the vote was within the delegation and acknowledged that the vote tallies were “fluid” as the issue was discussed.

Trump hoped the chaos would be little more than a footnote.

Carson said Republicans who are not supporting Trump are not looking at the big picture.

Pat Smith, the mother of diplomat Sean Smith, who was killed in the 2012 attacks on the consulate in Benghazi, Libya, didn’t mince words in pointing the finger at the presumptive Democratic nominee for her son’s death.

“We think it’s very risky for this country”, she told VOA.

“If Hilary Clinton can’t give us the truth, why should we give her the presidency”, Pat Smith said.

The convention comes amid a wrenching period of violence and unrest, both in the United States and around the world.

When those died down, convention business proceeded.

Call it a sign that Donald Trump’s campaign is not extending an olive branch to critics or those Republicans still withholding their support of them.

Trump has seized on the instability, casting recent events as a direct result of failed leadership by President Barack Obama and by Clinton, who spent four years in the administration as secretary of state.

Republican National Committee members, including RNC Chair Reince Priebus, met behind closed doors with these anti-Trump delegates – which included Utah Sen.

Donald Trump appeared on “The Oreilly Factor” Monday night during the GOP convention.

Lee, an outspoken Trump critic, blasted convention leaders for walking off the stage in the face of demands for the vote. Action News caught up with the delegates as the convention began in Cleveland, Ohio. O’Reilly asked him about why Ohio Governor John Kasich is not appearing at the convention.
