A lot of local Republicans are going to be at the convention as volunteers, some as delegates.

“To be there, to watch history in the making, it’s pretty exciting”, Adams said in an interview this week. She hopes all Republicans who supported other candidates during the primary will line up behind Trump.
The Republican National Convention begins Monday in Cleveland. That means going beyond a white backlash core to reach college-educated whites, African-Americans and Latinos.
His job at the convention involves making sure all of the technology and wireless networks work properly.
“Usually conventions try to be as tiresome as possible and let the candidates steal the show at the end”, said Rep. Peter King (R-Seaford).
Speaking by phone from Cleveland, Podach said he has been working 12 hour days in the lead-up to the convention.
As for us? Well, Elite Daily will be attending the Republican National Convention next week, as well as the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia the week after.
After last night’s Rules Committee vote, it’s fair to say she’s unlikely to succeed.
Republican National Committee spokesman Sean Spicer said later on the program that the push had always been overhyped. “To sound like Donald Trump, they rigged it”, Colorado delegate and anti-Trump Republican Kendal Unruh said, calling the RNC a “bunch of liars”.
Many prominent Republicans are not even attending the convention. “I will not turn my back on 14.1 million people that voted for Donald Trump”, said Rhode Island delegate Eileen Grossman.
“We have to elect him”.
“I had to wait my turn”, she said.
According to The Washington Post, Unruh “was caught off-guard when called on to discuss her amendment and appeared to have misplaced papers she planned to use to help make her case” during the meeting.
“They should have run better candidates or campaigns”, Trump delegate Shaun McCutcheon said of Republicans who are still opposed to Trump.
Trump backers said the effort to dump Trump is dead. “I certainly can rally behind that”, said Steve Curry, 69, of Oklahoma City. I’m hoping we will see an economic boom from the tourism, but I’m also looking out for harsh critiques of potentially slow service or other aspects of Cleveland like the traffic or infrastructure.
“It’s not about a person, it’s about the future of this country”, said Peña, “It’s about the direction that we want this country to take?”

This year’s convention has also generated much interest for the number of high-ranking party members who have chose to steer clear of the festivities and Trump’s official crowning, among them former presidents George H. and George W. Bush and former party nominees John McCain and Mitt Romney.
