He has some ground to make up in SC, however, with front-runner Donald Trump enjoying a big lead there ahead of the February 20 primary vote.

(CNN)Former President George W. Bush will hit the campaign trail for the first time in years when he appears at a SC campaign rally with his younger brother next week, Jeb Bush’s campaign announced.
Cruz and Donald Trump will again take the center podiums at the CBS debate, which begins at 9 p.m. ET.
“I leave the race without an ounce of regret”, Christie said in a Facebook post, noting that while his message had been heard by many, it was “just not enough and that’s ok”.
He won, as well, in that Republicans who don’t want him are not much further along in finding a champion than they were before the Iowa and New Hampshire contests.
Trump, Cruz and Rubio all have expansive organizations in SC and several Super Tuesday states.

There hasn’t been a contested national convention since 1976, yet Republican National Committee officials have already had preliminary discussions about the possibility of no candidate securing a majority of delegates in the state-by-state primary contests.
It’s by no means assured that Rubio’s candidacy will survive that long.
“Ted Cruz is the definition of sleaze” a tweet that was retweeted by Trump said.
“Donald Trump has zero foreign policy experience”, Rubio said.
A more aggressive Rubio showed up Thursday in Okatie. “Jeb knew he had to stand on his two feet, and now is the time you bring in all the reinforcements and let the voters decide”.

“You’re certainly more nervous if you woke up [Wednesday] morning if you’re Rubio than if you’re Jeb”, said David Beightol, a top bundler for Romney who is now backing Bush. “I loved that he took responsibility”.
