GOP Politicians Side With The Khans But Ignore Trump’s Insults

“There comes a time in the history of a nation where an ethical moral stance has to be taken regardless of the political cost”, Khan said. In response, Trump defended his proposal, while accusing Khan of unfairly attacking him. Here’s what politicians from both parties said.

“Donald Trump and I believe that Captain Humayun Khan is an American hero and his family, like all Gold Star families, should be cherished by every American”, wrote Pence. In the ensuing weeks Trump fell behind Clinton by a few points but regained his standing not long afterward.

Pence later said Trump’s comments on Russian Federation had been “laced with sarcasm” and blamed the media for consistently mischaracterizing Trump’s words.

If there were any doubts about Trump’s disqualifying lack of simple decency and empathy, he resolved them in an interview on ABC News over the weekend with a characteristically cruel and self-centered attack on Khizr and Ghazala Khan, an American Muslim couple whose son, Army Capt. Humayun Khan, was killed in the line of duty in Iraq.

“Many Muslim Americans have served valiantly in our military, and made the ultimate sacrifice”.

He asked Trump to “go look at the graves of fearless patriots who died defending the United States of America”. “The Khan family deserves nothing less than our deepest support, respect, and gratitude, and they have every right to express themselves in any way they choose”. The United Nations also doesn’t want countries to recognize Crimea as part of Russia, and some top Republicans staunchly defend Crimea against what they consider Russian aggression.

Captain Khan gave his life to defend our country in the global war on terror.

“I was viciously attacked by Mr. Khan at the Democratic Convention”. “Am I not allowed to respond?” he asked. The candidate also tried to change the subject to the war itself: “Hillary voted for the Iraq war, not me!”

Donald Trump said I had nothing to say. I do.

Khan also wrote that Trump “doesn’t know what the word sacrifice means” after the real-estate mogul cited his business success as sacrifice, in response to Khizr Khan’s charge at the convention that Trump had sacrificed “nothing”. The mother of the fallen soldier, Ghazala Khan, stood by her husband’s side but has said she was too overcome with grief to speak.

“I think this is a time to pick country over party”.

The Republican presidential nominee questioned why Ghazala Khan, the mother of Captain Humayun Khan, stood silently as her husband spoke at the Democratic National Convention last week. And what has he heard from Donald Trump? She has said that plans to vote for him. “It is hard to imagine anyone who has ever run to be president of the Untied States saying any of what he says but the accumulation of it all is just beyond my comprehension”, Clinton said.

WASHINGTON – Donald Trump is suggesting the US accept Russia’s annexation of Crimea if it would lead to better relations with Moscow and stronger cooperation in fighting Islamic State militants. “If you’re going to be leader of the free world, you have to be able to accept criticism”.

“Donald Trump said he has made a lot of sacrifices”.

Hassan, meanwhile, said Ayotte’s criticism of Trump is “meaningless”.

“Ridiculed a POW in John McCain”, Kaine interjected.

Which is what Trump could have said in the first place. You can mark it down. “Mr. Trump can’t. The problem is, “unacceptable” doesn’t even begin to describe it”.

Trump’s comments were notable following his urging of the Russian government to meddle in the presidential election by finding tens of thousands of Clinton’s emails.

On a post-convention bus tour through OH and Pennsylvania, Clinton said Trump has a “total misunderstanding” of American values and has inflamed divisions in American society. “What else doesn’t he know”.
