GOP question Cruz’s eligibility to be president
U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz campaigns in New Hampshire. And on either side are two rivals who have appealed greatly to Evangelical voters: Ted Cruz, with almost 27 percent, and Ben Carson, with almost 9 percent.

“Ronald Reagan was a voice of consistency”, the Texas senator said.
The balancing act of wooing moderate Republicans while staying true to his unwavering conservative political brand presents a dilemma.
Defending religious liberty has been a rallying cry for Cruz’s campaign.
He said he filed the case to avert a messy situation in which Cruz is deemed ineligible only after winning the Republican nomination or the presidency. “They’re exhausted of empty rhetoric. Because he didn’t want you to know that he’s dealing with banks”, he added.
“Christie and Kasich have no national organization”, said Cliff Hurst, Rubio’s co-chairman in New Hampshire.
Voters are feeling pretty negative about the Republican nominating race.
“I also heard he gives less than 1 percent to charity and church”, one of the voices in the ad says, a reference to a 2012 report that listed Cruz as giving less than 1 percent of his income to charity. “The Republican Party has never once nominated a Reaganite for office since 1984”.
According to CNN Poll of Polls, the billionaire tops surveys in New Hampshire but the competition between him and the senator is tough in Iowa. Eaton said Cruz needs to broaden his appeal.
John Oliver is one of Cruz’s staunchest backers. “I apologize to the millions of New Yorkers who’ve been let down by liberal politicians in that state”, he said.
Cruz dismissed the issue as a “paperwork error”, but Trump called it a “big no-no” and “absolutely wrong” during his Wednesday event. “You don’t have a candidate all of a sudden”, Trump said.
Cruz told Buzzfeed News in New Hampshire that it’s no surprise the “Washington Cartel” – Cruz’s famous label for the Washington status quo – is in “full panic mode”. No other Republican gets more than 4 percent. “I think it’s built into his campaign to do that”. He leads in Iowa by low single-digit margins, and in SC by 14 points, according to the Augusta Chronicle. “As it moves along, he’s going to broaden and open it up”.
If there is a Republican candidate who will replace Trump and knock him from his lofty tower, now would be the time to see that rise.

Later, Trump hailed Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad (R) for publicly stating this week that Iowans should not support Cruz.
