GOP race gets smaller with departure of Sen. Graham
Today, I’m suspending my campaign for president. “I believe we have run a campaign you can be proud of”.

The South Carolina senator, whose campaign struggled to gain any momentum in the crowded GOP field, posted a message on YouTube announcing he was calling time.
His withdrawal, on the day of the deadline for removing his name from the primary ballot in SC, will have little impact on the national Republican race, which still has 13 candidates. “I got into this race to put forward a plan to win a war we can not afford to lose”. Lindsey Graham, a Republican, been elected president, he would be the first bachelor elected to the nation’s highest office since James Buchanan, way back in 1856.
“I’ve hit a wall here”, Graham said.
“I thought he was one of the most forceful voices on any of the debate stages about rebuilding our military”, Rubio said. “Today, most of my fellow candidates have come to recognize this is what’s needed”.
Below is Graham’s statement from the video.
Former U.S. Ambassador to Canada David Wilkins, a veteran fundraiser who was Graham’s state finance chairman, has signed on to help Bush, a campaign official said.
McCain described his relationship with Graham and his decision to support his campaign during a Christian Science Monitor breakfast with reporters earlier this month. “I’m sure hundreds of ’em are gonna be jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge – but I ain’t available”, Graham joked to the New York Times in 2010. Other candidates expressed their thanks to Graham on Twitter for running in the race.
Recent national polls show that the real-estate mogul Donald Trump is leading the race with a support rate of around 39 percent.
With Graham’s exit, the endorsement of Senator John McCain is up for grabs-and given the former G.O.P. candidate’s popularity in New Hampshire, expect dozens of candidates to suddenly begin kissing his ring. Before that, he served two years in the South Carolina House of Representatives.
Graham said that Trump can not defeat Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton in the general election at this point and not “without some major adjustments”.
