GOP rep: Obama’s gun control a ‘desperate act’ for relevancy
“Every year, more than 30,000 Americans have their lives cut short by guns”, he said.

US President Barack Obama began his final year in office by making gun control and gun safety a top priority for his administration. He did do it through an executive order, an approach that’s often unpopular with the party that doesn’t control the White House. To that end, the government will consider other factors, including how many guns a person sells, how frequently, and whether those guns are sold for a profit.
The actions aim to close the so-called “gun show loophole”, which allows small dealers to sell firearms at gun shows or online without keeping official sales records.
Licensed gun dealer Jim Benoit agrees.
A more sweeping definition of gun dealers is at the center of the actions.
After that tragedy, the Democratic president failed to persuade Congress to toughen USA gun laws.
Trump argued that the president should focus on improving mental health care instead of taking executive action to expand background checks on firearm purchases.
The sole objective, and only real effect, of the President’s paper-thin decree appears to be helping both sides of the gun debate raise more money. The rise in gun sales took place after the U.S. president vowed to make it harder for people to buy assault weapons. “A President who aggressively demeans the rights of law-abiding citizens fails to achieve real policy goals, and actually increases the sales of guns and ammunition since people are rightfully concerned about the future of their Second Amendment rights”.
Opponents of tighter gun rules in the USA have condemned executive action announced by President Obama requiring more gun sellers to get licenses and more gun buyers to undergo background checks.
“I can’t see where any of this is going to do anything”, he said. “But I just feel like our rights are being taken away from us as we go”, said resident Scott Swindoll.
The Second Amendment enshrines Americans’ right to bear arms.

Legal challenges to the changes are expected and Republican presidential candidates have promised to reverse his order if they win the White House.
