GOP’s Young gains more outside help in race against Bayh
When former IN senator Evan Bayh abruptly entered the race to capture his old seat, Democrats cheered and Republicans gulped. Evan Bayh, who worked for the chamber after leaving the Senate.

The chamber will TV run ads across IN supporting Young.
Bayh’s surprise decision last month to enter the race for the Senate seat he gave up in 2010 after two terms has forced national Republican groups to invest heavily in IN in hopes of keeping the seat now held by retiring GOP Sen.
“The time has come to send a clear message to Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama and Evan Bayh”. Engstrom compares that to Evan Bayh’s (D-IN) 55-percent Chamber voting record.
The U.S. Chamber’s endorsement comes with a seven-figure ad buy throughout the state.
And Young criticizes Bayh for votes cast in the Senate, including ones supporting banking regulations and the stimulus package.
“As a result of Bayh’s vote, over 100,000 Hoosiers have had their policies dropped and thousands more could see their premiums spike as much as 41 percent”, the 30-second spot says.
Bayh spokesman Ben Ray says the attacks show the Young campaign is desperate.

The attack on Bayh is “pretty rich” considering Young took donations from Carrier Corp., which is moving more than 1,000 jobs from IN factories to Mexico, Ray said.
