Let me tell you I don’t want to say anything now, but I would find it very hard given the statements that he’s made. As for the timing of the nominees, it is true that it is unusual to have a nominee appointed and confirmed in an election year, but it has definitely been done many times in American history.
But it’s not clear the Republican-controlled Senate will even hold hearings on the nominee, delaying confirmation for a year hoping a Republican will become president next January.
