Minnesota’s Big Ten home opener is against Michigan State on January 2.

“We believe that this year’s non-conference schedule will be an excellent test for our young team”, Pitino said in a statement Monday. We’ll see if the two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year as a quarterback has the hands and wiggle to be a star as a slot receiver.

The Minnesota Gophers open the men’s basketball season at home against Missouri-Kansas City on November 13.

Next up is a return to Puerto Rico for the second straight year, where the Gophers will take part in the Puerto Rico Tip-Off. The Gophers will also play on Friday night and again on Sunday in San Juan.

They will then make a trip to Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where they will play Oklahoma State at the Sanford Pentagon on December. 12. If the West turns into a three-team race among Wisconsin, Nebraska and the Gophers, as many predict, these are the key matchups: Wisconsin at Nebraska (Oct. 10), Nebraska at Gophers (Oct. 17) and Wisconsin at Gophers (Nov. 28).

That’s the question as the rest of the Big Ten tries to close the gap on defending national champion Ohio State. The following Wednesday, the Gophers host Purdue (Jan. 27) in their first two-game B1G homestand, before closing out January at Indiana (Jan. 30). Michigan State lost just one conference game against Ohio State and narrowly missed out on the College Football Playoff, winning the Cotton Bowl and finishing the year ranked No. 5. They open conference play at Ohio State and play three of their first five conference games on the road.
