Gophers earn No. 4 seed in NCAA soccer tournament

After winning its fourth consecutive ACC Championship on Sunday, the Florida State soccer team earned the conference’s automatic bid to the 2016 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship. – The Monmouth University women, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference regular season and tournament champions, will play the University Virginia in the NCAA Division I Tournament at Klöckner Stadium in Charlottesville, Va. Friday at 7 p.m.

Colorado Mines enters as the top seed and plays the victor of CSU-Pueblo/Dallas Baptist game Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m. MT in Golden.

The Skyhawks women’s soccer team has reached the national tourney for the first time in program history and will go against American International College in Bridgeport, Conn., Friday at 1 p.m.in the East Region. NCAA quarterfinal action will be November 25, 26 or 27 on four campus sites with the Women’s College Cup set for December 2 & 4 at the Avaya Stadium in San Jose, Calif.

This is Marquette’s 14th official meeting with Wisconsin, and they own a 5-6-2 record all-time against the Badgers.

“I feel that we’re as prepared as we can be”, BYU head coach Jennifer Rockwood said. “I know they’re going to embrace the challenge work hard and get ready for Saturday”.

The Razorbacks competed in their first NCAA Tournament in 2013, defeating Oklahoma State 2-1 and St. John’s 1-0 before falling to Duke on penalty kicks in the Sweet 16.

MI finished fourth in the Big Ten standings and lost in the semifinals of the conference tournament to eventual champion Minnesota. IU was defeated 3-1 by top-seed Minnesota in the quarterfinals.

Should the Jayhawks advance, they will meet either the 2-seed North Carolina Tar Heels or the Liberty Flames in the second round. Kansas is coming off a 1-0 loss to TCU in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinals.

ISU now has 11 regular season titles, seven conference titles, and is getting ready to make its seventh NCAA Tournament appearance with the MVC Player of the Year on their squad once again with senior Lauren Koehl. The team’s current No. 2 ranking and No. 3 mark in the NCAA Soccer RPI standings are both the highest in school history.
