GoPro’s Hero5 camera could pack Global Positioning System
Mr. Anderson mentioned in his note that the documents filed by GoPro with FCC indicate that Hero5 Black would be the company’s first action camera which would come with a built-in Global Positioning System and 802.11ac Wi-Fi. Nevertheless, Dougherty & Co. analyst Charles Anderson did not rule out the option of a 360 degree feature as he believes the FCC filings to not be comprehensive in their coverage of the hardware portion. Other features mentioned by the publication include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy and will run with 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.

As for release, the most popular rumor is that the Hero5 will be released as early as September or as late as December, according to Mobile & Apps.
GoPro continues to remain mum about its next action camera, the Hero 5.
With previous incarnations of its action camera, GoPro has made different models for users with varying priorities. It may suggest that this video could have been an old version of the GoPro Hero 5 or otherwise. On the last generation, the Hero4 Silver camera came with an LCD touchscreen while the Hero4 Black did not.
Other than some leaked footage that shows off an updated interface (we’ll get to that in a second), a new FCC filing suggests the next flagship action camera from the firm could feature Global Positioning System for the very first time.
With the lack of updates from GoPro Inc., rumors continue to pile up.
The company’s executives had dismissed the idea of adding the Global Positioning System feature in the past, given the power drain in exchange for negligible added benefit.
There’s no official word from GoPro yet but we should expect something before the end of 2016.
Apart from this, the analyst also said that they can not foreclose the option of a 360 degree camera as the FCC filings are “fairly incomplete” in providing coverage to the whole hardware setup of the product. “Several competitors, including Garmin and Sony, have added Global Positioning System to action cameras as a differentiating feature but neither was able to pick up noticeable market share as a result”, Anderson noted. He added that the cellular feature, however, looks unlikely as the FCC would have certainly checked for that.
User named Konrad Iturbe posted the video Reddit and it showed an alleged leak video of the tutorial for the GoPro Hero 5. The Hero5 will have a redesigned touchscreen interface that would make it easier to navigate through the camera’s modes and settings. While the Hero4 could record in 4K, it could only do so at 30 frames per second.
Other concerns include battery life, which could be affected by the inclusion of Global Positioning System technology. According to the leaked video, the Hero 5 will be able to capture videos in 1080p and 30fps.
