After losing All-Star outfielder Giancarlo Stanton last month with a broken wrist, All-Star second baseman Dee Gordon left Saturday’s game against the Reds with a dislocated thumb after sliding into first base. He was removed from the game and is expected to immediately hit the disabled list. Gordon’s injury then was initially termed a dislocated thumb but turned out to be a torn ulnar collateral ligament that caused him to miss six weeks.
Gordon was voted an All-Star starter for the first time. That. 333 average is third-best in the National League; the 33 steals trail only Billy Hamilton’s 42 in the Senior Circuit.

Gordon left Miami’s 14-3 win against Cincinnati in the seventh inning after he was hurt beating out an infield hit with a headfirst slide.
