Apple unveiled a trio of new iPhones today, including its biggest and most expensive model yet. In fact, while its display is bigger than that found in any other iPhone model other than the XS Max, the phone itself is actually smaller than the iPhone 8 Plus and previous plus-sized models. The iPhone XR is a low cost iPhone and has an LCD display.

There have been rumblings that Apple is primarily focused on ramping up production of the XS and XR models and that an update to the iPhone SE is the least of the company’s worries at the moment.
As the size has grown, so too has the price, debuting at £269 in its first outing, and going as high as £1,499 for the highest spec on the new iPhone XS Max. Apple has made a lot of developments with this chipset, and it is manufactured using the 7nm process.
If you need a brand new iPhone but not willing to spend more than RM4,000, Apple has also announced a cheaper version that’s called the iPhone XR.
The new high-end iPhone gets camera improvements in both the physical lenses and in what the new chip will allow in terms of processing the photo. There’s a 12MP wide-angle camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) and a 6-element f/1.8 lens.
Research firm IDC expects worldwide smartphone shipments to decline 0.7 per cent in 2018 to 1.455 billion units, with growth likely to resume as 5G devices become available. The second camera is also 12 megapixels and it is a telephoto with an aperture of f / 2.4. And further in time, we may also see Vodafone Idea LTD supporting the eSIM service.
The process by which the smartphones will be able to receive and make calls from both SIMs, which Apple calls it the Dual SIM Dual Standby technology.
Apple also announced that the iOS 12 software update will be available for download on September 17th.
CEO Tim Cook claimed that the iPhone is the “number 1 smartphone in the world” and has an astounding 98 percent customer satisfaction rate. The Apple Watch will keep a track of the patterns and you can export the patterns using the Health app into PDF files that you can share with your doctor. In the USA, it will get one physical SIM and one e-SIM option, whereas in markets like China and India, it will get a dedicated dualSIM slot for two physical sim cards.
And sure, you can use the company’s AirPods, which Apple will, of course, happily sell you for $159. Portrait Lighting is also supported but it’s limited to just 3 effects – Natural, Studio and Contour. Although the innards of those phones changed over time, they looked basically the same and the new features they offered weren’t compelling enough to encourage consumers to upgrade en masse.
