A prisoner who escaped from Goulburn jail earlier this week has appeared in court, where his lawyer indicated he is likely to plead guilty over the getaway.

Wiles is serving an aggregate 18-month sentence for a series of offences, including shoplifting, driving while disqualified and using a mobile/SIM card inside a correctional facility, the Daily Telegraph reported. “We are investigating who was operating the account and how the pictures were taken”, a Corrective Services spokesman said.

She said Wiles was in a new relationship with the woman he exchanged selfies with, and the mother of his two boys is also in prison.

Meanwhile, Wiles reportedly took photos of himself and uploaded them to his Facebook page just days before he fled Goulburn prison.

Red-faced prison bosses had to explain two embarrassing lapses with the escape compounded by Wiles’ posts on Facebook despite inmates being banned from the internet, cameras and phones.

“I don’t know what I’m more disgusted in”.

Wiles’ aunt Linda Jenson urged her nephew to give himself up.

Wiles’s freedom dash came just six hours before another man escaped Corrective Services’ custody.

Corrective Services Minister David Elliott has said the government would work towards having phone jamming technology at all jails across the state.

“What’s happened in the past 24 hours is unacceptable…we need to make sure this doesn’t happen”.

“Last year we were able to acquire 325 mobile phones, obviously we can’t get every one of them which is why today I’ve brought forward the new technology which will see mobile phone scanning on persons going into jails”.

Although he is now captured, the past life of Wiles was unearthed in a cringeworthy rap video he posted online.

He is expected to appear in court on Friday.

Beau Wiles, 25, and Ali Hussein Chahine, 33, both escaped in seperate incidents.

The court was told the DPP was considering transferring the case to the District court where they could face a longer prison sentence.

He allegedly assaulted two police officers before jumping out of the dock and running out of the room without his shoes on.

A third prison break-out took place on Wednesday, with Northern Territory Police confirming a convicted robber left a prison bus he had been driving and went on the run in Darwin. He also remains on the run.

“Mr Ali Chahine was sitting in the dock for the hearing and was not handcuffed”, a spokeswoman said.

“My advice at the moment is that the corrections officers who I’m responsible for did everything right”.
