Gov. Andrew Cuomo cancels fundraisers
Governor Cuomo has canceled his $5,500-a-ticket World Series fundraisers after criticism he was exploiting the national pastime to raise campaign cash from wealthy insiders.

But a dip in prices would be expected if the Mets were to lose Game 2 Wednesday night.
Cuomo, who was elected previous year to a second term, wouldn’t be the first New York governor to commit an error during the World Series.
Under the new law, the state will give the flags to the families of fallen police officers at no cost.
The “Andrew Cuomo 2018” campaign maintains that it purchased the tickets directly from the Mets at face value using traditional channels. The average regular season Major League Baseball ticket is about $29, according to Team Marketing Report. But, according to The Buffalo News, transportation is being given to him by Mets’ owners Fred and Jeff Wilpon, who are flying the governor out on a private jet. No matter the ticket price, “you won’t see any empty seats”, Leyden says.
The size of the host city and the past postseason appearances of the home team have a major effect on pricing, Leyden says.
And if you want to watch batting practice, get there early.
Cuomo is hocking tickets to the third and forth game of the World Series at a steep $5,500 each, so donors can spend 90 minutes at a pregame party with the governor himself, the Post reported. “But when he turns around, takes a special number of tickets and sells them at a premium for his own benefit, he looks bad, and he’s gone from being booster-in-chief to self-serving politician”.
