Mayor Christian Estrosi issued a statement on Twitter, urging Nice residents to stay in their homes.

Hollande said the state of emergency in France, ongoing for nine months, would be extended for another three months. He was known to police for petty crimes, reports CBS News correspondent Elizabeth Palmer.
