Gov. Cuomo makes statement on attacks in Paris
NY lit One World Trade Center, the tallest building in America, red, white and blue in solidarity with France after attackers killed at least 120 people in Paris. The governor says the act shows NY will stand with the people of France.

“In light of yesterday’s horrific attacks, we are stepping up precautionary security measures at key points around the state”.
The MTA works closely with the NYPD to secure New York’s subways and buses, and MTA Bridges and Tunnels Officers are using a mix of visual and technological surveillance to ensure safety at its seven bridges and two tunnels in NY City.
“Tonight the City of Chicago stands shoulder to shoulder with the City of Paris in the wake of today’s despicable and horrifying attacks”, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said.
And French consulates in NY and Boston received extra security along with French-owned sites in Washington, D.C.
NY Gov. Andrew Cuomo said the state police, National Guard and other agencies were on a heightened state of alert.
The NY Police Department said that there are no known threats to NY City at the moment, but the increased police presence across the city will remain until they learn more.
Authorities said the stepped-up patrols were out of an abundance of caution.
Heathrow Airport in London, Europe’s busiest hub, said it was operating as usual.
Los Angeles authorities said they knew of no dangers against the city, but the section beefed up patrols at what it called essential websites, including a Snoop Dogg concert. These were tragic and senseless acts of violence that have claimed innocent lives and torn families apart – and my heart goes out to the loved ones of all who have been lost.
These are precautionary measures, not based on any specific intelligence linking the US and the attacks in Paris, the statement noted.
Law enforcement and transportation agencies outside of NY are also on high alert, with the U.S. Capitol Police in Washington enhancing the patrols around the Capitol compound.
The St. Louis Police Department said it added an extra layer of security for the World Cup soccer qualifying match between the United States and St. Vincent on Friday night.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is asking people to be aware of their surroundings and to report suspicious activity to the police.
