While concerned educators say that the most recent version of the bill is an improvement, they believe there is still a long way to go.
A conference committee was scheduled to meet late Monday to hammer out differences between the House and Senate as teachers and other public employees packed the state Capitol. The committee didn’t vote on the proposal, effectively killing it.

A bill outlawing child marriages in Kentucky, proposed by Republican state Senator Julie Raque Adams, was hampered in the state’s Senate Judiciary Committee following a protest from a conservative group last week. He called the bill the most “secretive” and “corrupt” piece of legislation that he’s seen in his eight years in the Legislature.
