Gov. Kasich highlights Ohio’s economy in GOP debate

As the Ohio Governor, he inherited a budget deficit which has been turned into a surplus. Secondly, in our state, we went from a loss of 350,000 jobs to, now, a gain of 347,000 jobs to the positive. We add tax schemes adding trillions of dollars to the debt that we’ll grow our way out of it, that doesn’t make any sense.

He – mistakenly, actually – said he should be credited for having convinced Ford to give up its plans for a new factory in Mexico and instead opening a new one in the United States. He hit oil, he got lucky with fracking, believe me.

Kasich reiterated his criticism of Trump and Carson’s economic proposals, dismissing their “empty promises” and “fantasy” policies.

“‘I have a 10% tithe, and that’s how we’re gonna fund the government?'” Kasich said, mocking Carson’s plan. “Let me tell you something: I’ve about had it with these people”.

But what Trump said was not true. Instead, Mr. Kasich sounded, well, presidential: “Bombast… doesn’t win jobs, and those who use bombast as a way to get things done rarely carry the day”.

Many establishment Republicans are not with Kasich on this one, including House Speaker John Boehner and U.S. Sen. “Both (U.S. Sens. Marco) Rubio and (Ted) Cruz have won modest plaudits for their performances in the first two debates, but there was a demonstrable difference in what unfolded on the stage at the University of Colorado”.

“On Tuesday, the governor spoke for about 8 minutes, focusing many of his comments on poll-leading GOP contenders”.

That green room though: While a few candidates complained about their green rooms – New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and U.S. Sen. Rand Paul – Kasich was offering to share his before the debate, which looking spacious and came with a basketball hoop.

Amid a race dominated by political outsiders who have captured the country’s attention, Ohio Gov. John Kasich slammed them as inexperienced and unrealistic.

“He’s so proud of the fact that he vetoes everything”, Kasich said.

“These were garden-variety, stereotypical charges that are leveled at a candidate in the context of an election”, said Rob Nichols, a spokesman for Kasich.
