Gov. Pence accepts VP nomination: “Our party is ready”

And with that, Cruz, not Pence, became the big story of the night.

Republican vice presidential nominee Mike Pence used his national introductory speech at the Republican National Convention on Wednesday to warn that another Democratic presidential victory would mean disaster for the military and danger for America’s national security.

He gave a perfectly solid speech, hitting all the perfectly solid conservative notes.

Holcomb, who has never been elected to office, has touted his eight years as an aide and campaign manager to former Gov. Mitch Daniels and four months as lieutenant governor. In particular because the governor of IN is not well known on the national level.

It hardly mattered. He could not compete with the spectacle around him.

Conservative radio host Laura Ingraham roused the crowd early on with an indictment of Hillary Clinton, leading the crowd in the now-familiar chant of “Lock her up!”

Sen. Rob Portman, meanwhile, called North Atlantic Treaty Organisation “arguably the most important alliance we’ve ever had”.

Pence said he hopes delegates leave Cleveland on Friday “more determined than ever to change the direction of our nation back to strength at home and overseas by electing Donald Trump”.

Gov. Pence rattled off the now standard Trump talking point praise that Donald Trump is a doer and a uniquely American creation. “So by and large, I see the Republican Party beginning to come together”. What the polls are also telling us is that the American people don’t trust Trump’s judgment and lack of experience. In fact, according to the Times article, he specifically refused to say he would back the Baltic states if they were invaded.

In a style that cast a stark contrast to the fiery rhetoric of Trump, Pence’s self-effacing demeanor and focus on conservative tenets rang home with Nashville Trump delegate Betty Cannon.

“This is really an honor, and we’re going to win Ohio”, Trump told supporters at a brief arrival ceremony after greeting his children and running mate Mike Pence.

“I appreciate the enthusiasm of the NY delegation”, he said at one point.

Kasich effectively removed himself from Trump’s VP list toward the end of May, the report states, telling Trump “a joint ticket would be like two corporations with completely different philosophies and styles trying to merge”.

The GOP vice presidential nominee stepped up in an electric atmosphere in the Quicken Loans Arena shortly after Texas Sen. They won’t actively work against Trump, and they’ll voice support for him – even begrudgingly – out of loyalty for the party. He wants to bully it into submission.
