Government to withdraw security cover, curtail facilities given to Kashmiri separatists?

Addressing media persons before concluding his two day visit to Kashmir Rajnath Singh claimed that the decision of resisting Kashmiri leadership to not to meet Indian Parliamentary Delegation shows they do not believe in “Kashmiriyat”, “insaniyat” and “jamhooriyat”.

Singh said Parliament, which is supreme “panchayat” of the country, is very serious about the situation in Kashmir and hence chose to send a delegation of its members for talks.

The all-party delegation arrived here on Sunday on a mission to initiate dialogue to restore peace in the valley that is battling almost two months of the deadliest unrest in years.

“Everyone wants situation to normalise in Kashmir”.

State Education Minister and Government Spokesperson Naeem Akhtar said it was necessary for all stakeholders to join the dialogue process.

The Congress will be represented by Lok Sabha leader Mallikarjun Kharge and Rajya Sabha veteran Ambika Soni. We talked about the Kashmir issue.

Apart from political parties, groups of academicians, teachers and student associations, representatives of school management, prominent NGOs, representatives of Leh, Kargil, Pahari associations, Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee, Fruit & Saffron Growers associtions and civil society also meet the delegation. While in Delhi, the Home Minister is holding the fort, in Srinagar, state CM Mehbooba Mufti is on a mission mode to expose the dubious characters of separatists leaders who continue to enjoy perks from India but often identify themselves with Pakistan. “The crisis is deep-rooted and the only way out is a political solution”, said Premachandran who represents the Kollam Lok Sabha seat.

Without spelling any formal ban on controversial pellet shotguns, which not only inflicted injuries on eyes of protesters but also proved fatal for them, Mr. Singh said, “Around 1000 of PAVA shells have arrived in Srinagar on Sunday”.

The ties between the two countries have nosedived in recent months.

“There can be no compromise on national sovereignty”, it said, a rebuff to separatists and calls for “Azadi”, or freedom, that have echoed in the Valley during the ongoing unrest.

“If required, we will take suggestions from them again in future”, he said when asked if the Centre was willing to consider proposals like PDP’s self rule and National Conference’s greater autonomy for Jammu and Kashmir within the ambit of the Constitution.

At the meeting earlier, the team of 26 MPs discussed the security situation in the Valley.

Divulging detail of the meeting in Jammu, the Home Minister said, “As many as 200 people comprising 18 delegations interacted with the all-party delegation”.
