Telecom minister Manoj Sinha on Tuesday launched “Twitter Seva” for addressing complaints and concerns of all stake-holders in the telecom and postal sectors. Sinha was appointed as the new telecom minister following a cabinet reshuffle last month. “The social media giant is also in discussion with the Home Ministry, Health Ministry, MyGov etc for bringing the similar platform for them as well”, said a Government official.
The Minister said that the Telecoms Ministry and Department of Post will compile a list of complaints based on the Twitter Sewa to categorize them into immediate, mid-term and long-term complaints for redressal. Social media is an effective tool of communications between the Government and people.
With this the department will be able to respond in real-time to complaints, assign it to relevant officers, assign criticality and track the complaints. “But I would like to assure you that Ministry will rise up to this challenge”. “The Twitter Seva system is now tracking several thousand official government accounts on Twitter and more than 400,000 Tweets per month, with each Tweet stacking up as a metric of the Government’s intent to deliver effective and transparent service”, said Raheel Khursheed, Head of News, Government and Politics Partnerships, Twitter India. Users can now register and get a resolution to the complaints filed against the telecom and postal services on the micro-blogging site Twitter.
