The meeting was held on the same day that Gov. Rick Scott said four more people have locally acquired the Zika virus, likely from mosquito bites in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood.

The new cases bring the total number of “homegrown” Zika infections in Florida to 21. The Florida Department of Health said it continues to focus on a 1-square-mile area in northern Miami where they believe the infections are ongoing.

A baby born in a Harris County hospital has become the first infant to die from Zika in the US and the first Zika-related death in Texas.

At this point, it’s the only reported case of Zika in Leon County.

At least 99 cases of Zika have been reported in Texas, including two infants with microcephaly in Harris County.

The death of the infant is the first Zika-related death in the state the department confirmed.

The CDC advises pregnant women not to travel to an area where active Zika transmission is ongoing, and to use insect repellent and wear long trousers and long-sleeved shirts if they are in those areas.

According to a report from USA Today, the CDC says 15 babies in the US have been born with Zika-related birth defects.

Depending on the severity, when arthrogryposis is seen with other conditions it can limit movement and restrict people from ever being able to walk.

Clinton said she first learnt of the threat posed by the Zika virus in December from her daughter, Chelsea Clinton.

This case is being classified as “travel-related”, and officials say there isn’t a risk of infection in Texas.

In Miami and beyond, there is growing concern about a different issue: new cases of Zika.

Lawmakers left Washington in mid-July for a seven-week recess without approving any of the $1.9 billion that President Barack Obama requested in February to try to develop a vaccine and control the mosquitoes that carry the virus. Pregnant women should be especially careful, as cases affecting the health of unborn children have been reported. An infant with Zika-linked micrwaocephaly died soon after being born. “Your local health department also has Zika educational information they will be happy to share”.

More than 7,300 Americans have been diagnosed with Zika, including 1,825 in the continental USA and Hawaii, according to the CDC. The areas impacted by Zika are listed at cdc.gov/zika/geo/index.html, and the site is updated frequently.
