Governor says undeterred by critics on Flint

The city said customers should have their water tested, and residents at locations affected by the water crisis should be using filters and bottled water.

While state officials were telling concerned Flint residents their water was safe to drink last January, newly released emails show they also were arranging for coolers of purified water in Flint’s State Office Building so employees wouldn’t have to drink from the taps.

It’s the second round of state aid since the fall, when improperly treated water was found to have leached lead from pipes into the city’s supply.

He says the water coolers still are supplied to a state building in Flint. “Let’s stand up together as Michiganders to say mistakes were made, problems happened, we’re going to solve them, we’re going to fix them, and we’re going to (be) stronger”.

Gov. Rick Snyder told a radio show he hopes city residents will have safe water in 2-3 months, but his staff said there is still no timetable on restoring Flint’s drinking water. The emergency spending bill includes money for more bottled water and filters and services to monitor for developmental delays in young children.

In addition to adding to the enormous available evidence revealing the Snyder’s administration lackluster (if not criminal) response to the water crisis in Flint, Scott said the documents also make it plain just “ineffective” and “unequal” the state’s handling of the situation has been. Protesters have also been rallying outside Snyder’s residence, and there have been longshot efforts to recall him from office.

The Hill reported that a group led by Michigan Senators Gary Peters (D) and Debbie Stabenow (D) is sponsoring an amendment, to be included in the Senate’s wide-ranging energy bill, which would release $600 million in funds.

The water contamination scandal in Flint has led to plenty of legal action, but new lawsuit filed this week finally has some teeth.

Drinking water in Flint was contaminated after the city moved away from the Detroit water system in 2014 and began pulling water from the polluted Flint River. Snyder has promised to put forward more funding for Flint in his annual budget proposal, but he has not said how much.

David today toured the City of Binghamton’s water treatment facility and outlined the many steps taken to ensure high-quality drinking water for Binghamton residents, amid the ongoing Flint, Mich. water crisis.

However, the city’s government continues to charge people for the poison water and then threatening to foreclose their home or take their children if they refuse to pay.

An assessment cited in Michigan’s request for a federal disaster declaration estimated the potential cost of fixing the damage to Flint’s water distribution infrastructure at $713 million. Snyder attorney John Pirich says that’s opinion, not fact.

In Binghamton, water treatment officials Wednesday provided an inside look at the advanced testing and quality control measures that go into each drop of City water.
