Govt imposes 2-day internet blockade in Kashmir
“Beef is halaal (legal) for us and no power in the world can stop us from taking it. When on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha we will be sacrificing animals, it will not be against or to hurt any particular community or tribe, but it is our religious obligation”, Geelani said.

Police gave the directive to all service providers of the state, on the eve of the festival, which comes over the controversy over the beef ban in the valley.
In just a fortnight before Eid-ul-Azha, butchers and traders dealing with sacrificial animals across Kashmir have made a fortune by selling sheep and goat worth Rs 30 crores along with mutton worth Rs 4 crores in last few days.
Sources said that the decision to suspend mobile services was taken at a high-level security meeting.
The Government fears that some mischievous elements would ignore the recent court order directing the administration to enforce the sale of beef and ban on the slaughter of bovine. Police is also planning to monitor social networking sites on Eid to deter people from posting pictures of slaughtered bovines to protest against the High Court order.
The authorities have also arrested Mohammad Yousuf Mir and Abdul Ahad Parra of Muslims League, a party spokesman said. People have the right to eat what their religion permits…
An official said the internet ban was clamped to “prevent” people from upload such images on social media, since this could potentially incite communal tensions in the state.

“Our struggle is against the oppressor but communal forces want to convert this struggle into a Muslim versus Hindu issue which will overshadow atrocities and autocratic rule of India in Kashmir”. “In no way should our act of sacrifice hurt the sentiments of any community”, he said.
