“As the bill was passed in Lok Sabha by voice vote, MHRD minister Prakash Javadekar said, “The Narendra Modi government is committed to ensure Sabko Shiksha aur Acchi Shiksha (Education for all and Quality Education)”, Javadekar said in Lok Sabha after members from various parties participated in the discussions on the bill”.

Javadekar said education was an issue that concerned everyone and should be made a national mission and that was why the government had come out with a draft education policy for which suggestions will be accepted till August 15. Further, the Ministry of HRD convenes periodic meetings with State Education Ministers and Secretaries to review the programme implementation.
Javadekar said after almost an year of consultation with various stakeholders? from educational institutions to ministries, from villages to towns? a draft of the new education policy has been prepared.
The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) is implemented as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme in partnership with State Governments for universalization of elementary education across the country.
Javadekar, however, preffered not to reply to a specific query on “saffronisation” of education, which was made by some Congress and Left members in the presence of the Prime Minister. That is why there is need for a good policy that would take the country forward.
“I believe for higher education the main challenge is creating capcity and providing quality education”, Javadekar told Karan Thapar of India Today TV, adding that there will be a marked difference in improving the standards.
Replying to concerns on whether the new policy would affect missionary schools, he said, “Any institution working within rules need not worry at all”.
He mainly laid emphasis on role of research as he mentioned about several schemes that are being evolved to promote research especially among technological institutes.

He said the process of inviting suggestions on the new policy was still on and for Members of Parliament; the date of seeking suggestions has been extended from July 31 to August 15.
