Grading LSU’s 38-17 loss to Ole Miss
An LSU Board of Supervisors member said before the Tigers’ game vs. Ole Miss on Saturday that Les Miles’ job status would be “something that needs to be looked at” regardless of the outcome of the team’s visit to Oxford.

Last week word started spreading that LSU head coach Les Miles may be coaching for his job.
The Tigers got off to a slow start for the third straight game, spotting the Rebels a three-score, first-half lead en route to a 38-17 loss Saturday.
When discussing a blowout loss such as the one witnessed in Vaught-Hemingway stadium yesterday there is no one area of the game that you can point to and hold responsible for the struggles of the team. Yes, after a timeout, LSU was still confused on what the play was.
Late in the second quarter, Harris threw a crossing pattern that was deflected, intercepted and returned to the 11-yard line. Ole Miss’ Cam Ordway was ejected from the game after he threw a punch at LSU’s Jalen Mills.
The Tigers (7-3) will return to Baton Rouge next week for the regular season finale against Texas A&M (7-3).
While Ole Miss racked up 432 yards, the loss was more about the Tigers mistakes than anything else. But his short game is terrible.
Harris threw the second most passes in a game in LSU history, tying Jeff Wickersham, who completed 33 of 51 for 368 yards in a 45-26 loss to Mississippi State in a 4-7 season in 1983. LSU took the third quarter kickoff 54 yards in six plays for a 43-yard field goal by Domingue, which was set up by a 16-yard completion from Harris to tight end Colin Jeter and a 32-yard run by Fournette – his longest since an 87-yard touchdown run against SC on October 10.
The Rebels jumped out to a 24-0 lead behind Kelly, but allowed LSU to climb back in the game in the 3rd quarter. It’s as improbable as “Spectre” winning the Oscar for best motion picture, but Ole Miss enters the final weekend with a chance at a berth in the SEC Championship Game.
The LSU Tigers lost to Ole Miss 38-17 in Oxford on Saturday.
The Rebels contained the LSU rushing threat and forced Brandon Harris to go to the air often.
“Our goal was to make them one-dimensional”, Ole Miss defensive back Mike Hilton said. But Miles said it himself: the team wasn’t in sync against Ole Miss and that means they weren’t ready to play and that means the preparation wasn’t very good. Senior running back Jaylen Walton scored from 2 yards out on the next play.
However, this alone is not reason enough to retain Coach Miles services. “I’m so busy doing my job that’s secondary in my nature”. I’ve been on the field with a prime vantage point when Les has led his team onto the gridiron for a handful of big games. These players want to win for their head coach, of that I am sure.
“I think we have a mobile quarterback”. I’ll try to give the most educated guesses I can based on my experiences with the university power structure and knowledge of how these searches tend to go.

“I just wondered why it took us three to years to get to the listening to the coaches aspect”, Coach Bret Bielema said on Monday.
